“Borden Street Condos”
The only condo project in South Stratford. Built by “Pol Quality Homes Inc.” Two “front and rear” low rise “walk-up style” condo buildings each with seven units. One building faces the street with front balconies and the second building sits directly behind it.
Brick and stone exteriors. A mix of two and three bedroom units. The two bedroom units are 960 sq. ft. Open concept livingroom/ kitchen areas. Some units have balconies while the main level units have more of a patio type area. Each unit has a gas furnace and central air.
One assigned parking spot per unit. If you look at the pictures you will notice that each unit has a main level outside the front door. This alleviates the need for elevators, hallways and front foyers. It also helps to keep the condo fees reasonable. The condo fees for a two bedroom unit in 2019 were in the $212.00 per month range.
What is the neighbourhood like? Well off in the distance in one direction is the “Anne Hathaway Public School”, the “Memorial Baptist Church” and the “Anne Hathaway Park/Ball Diamonds”. This is an older neighbourhood in an older part of the city however, to the west of it are the streets like Morgan Street and Edison Crescent which are in the 25 year age range and have single family houses and Elgin Street to the north-east which also has similar style homes. There are also some pockets of light industrial uses which go back many years.
The good news is that there is a golf course directly across the street from these “Borden Street Condos” call the “Stratford Municipal Golf Course” at 251 Norfolk Street. It occupies an eighty-eight acre site and was established back in 1931.
